received his BA (1982), MA (1986, Cum Laude) and PhD (1994) degrees in geography from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is an associate professor in the Department of Geography at the University Of Haifa. Prof. Golan’s main area of interest is historical and political geography. His former work concentrated on the impact of war and post-war processes on the transformation of human landscapes in Eastern and Southern Europe following the Great War and in Israel during and following the 1948 war. His current research concentrates on the historical geography of Palestine/Israel, mostly on different aspects of urbanization between the 1930s and 1960s.
